Cemetery Superintendent
From Plot Inventory to Long-Range Planning
Follow the complete operational lifecycle — from GIS-mapped plot inventory and interment rights sales through burial scheduling and grounds maintenance to capacity forecasting. Full operational visibility across all municipal cemeteries.
Inventory
Plot registry
View the complete GIS-mapped inventory of every plot, niche, crypt, and memorial space across all municipal cemeteries — with real-time status (available, sold, reserved, occupied) and click-to-view detail.
The GIS Cemetery Map (spec 1.3) displays interactive cemetery grounds with plot boundaries, pathways, roads, and landmarks. Click any plot to see its unique identifier, status, rights holder, occupant(s), and full history. Map layers toggle between available plots, occupied plots, reserved plots, and infrastructure. The Cemetery Registry (spec 1.1) defines properties with BAO licence numbers, bylaw references, and section/zone organization. The Space Inventory Engine (spec 1.2) tracks every space with type classification, size, depth, orientation, and accessibility attributes.
Sell
Rights processing
Process interment rights purchases with FBCSA-compliant agreements, automated PCF contribution calculation, resident/non-resident pricing, and certificate generation — all linked to the plot inventory.
The Rights Sales Engine (spec 2.1) generates purchase agreements per FBCSA requirements with all required disclosures and cancellation rights. The PCF Calculator automatically applies prescribed contribution amounts per O.Reg. 30/11. Price schedules differentiate by space type, section, and residency status. Payment processing supports full payment or instalment plans. The Rights Holder Registry (spec 2.2) stores complete contact information with next-of-kin relationships. Interment Rights Certificates (spec 2.5) are generated digitally with print delivery option.
Schedule
Interment coordination
Schedule burials and cremation interments with calendar-based time-slot management, funeral home coordination, authorization checklist verification, and automatic grounds crew work order generation.
The Scheduling Calendar (spec 3.1) provides calendar-based interment scheduling with real-time availability validation preventing double-bookings. Minimum time between interments is enforced per cemetery. The Funeral Home Portal (spec 3.2) enables funeral homes to submit requests online with confirmation workflow. The Authorization Checklist (spec 3.3) verifies burial permit, rights certificate, and all required documents. Grounds Work Orders (spec 3.4) are generated automatically with location, date/time, depth, equipment, and seasonal requirements.
Maintain
Grounds & monuments
Manage seasonal maintenance schedules, monument safety inspections, infrastructure tracking, and grounds crew work orders — ensuring dignified, safe cemetery environments across all properties.
The Grounds Scheduling Engine (spec 6.1) manages seasonal maintenance by zone: mowing, trimming, leaf removal, snow clearing, and road maintenance. The Monument Safety Inspector (spec 6.2) tracks inspection programs for leaning, cracking, or unsafe monuments with photo documentation, repair work orders, safety restoration, and owner notification. The Infrastructure Asset Registry (spec 6.3) tracks roads, fences, gates, water lines, drainage, buildings, and signage with condition assessment and maintenance history.
Report
BAO compliance
Generate BAO annual returns, perpetual care fund reports, interment statistics, and revenue analytics — all with one-click report generation and compliance attestation.
The BAO Report Generator (spec 4.4) produces annual PCF reports with opening balance, contributions, investment income, disbursements, and closing balance. Interment Reports (spec 7.1) show interments by type, period, and cemetery with year-over-year trends. Financial Reports (spec 7.2) track rights sales revenue, PCF activity, and maintenance expenses. Regulatory Reports (spec 7.3) compile BAO annual return data, cemetery bylaw compliance, and consumer complaint tracking. All reports are export-ready for council agendas.
Plan
Capacity forecasting
Use AI-powered capacity forecasting to project inventory depletion by section and interment type — 10, 25, and 50 year horizons — informing new section development, columbarium expansion, and council capital planning.
The Capacity & Demand Forecasting engine (spec 10.1) uses demographic data, sales velocity, and cremation trend analysis to project future demand. The system generates 10, 25, and 50 year capacity projections broken down by section and interment type. Cemetery expansion planning triggers alerts when remaining capacity drops below configurable thresholds. Revenue forecasting projects future rights sales revenue, PCF growth, and maintenance cost trajectories. Capital Planning (spec 10.2) supports columbarium expansion, new section development, and infrastructure improvements with cost estimation and multi-year scheduling.
