Collection calendar

Manage the master collection schedule — garbage, recycling, organics, yard waste — with holiday adjustments and publish to the resident portal with iCal subscriptions and push reminders.

The Schedule Engine manages multi-stream collection schedules: weekly garbage, bi-weekly recycling and organics, seasonal yard waste (April–November), and on-call bulky items. When a statutory holiday falls on a collection day, the system auto-shifts to the next business day and notifies affected residents via their preferred channel (push, email, SMS). The Schedule Publisher provides address-based lookup, downloadable calendar, and iCal subscription for every household.

Route assignment

Review AI-optimized routes for the day, assign crews, and dispatch collection vehicles with turn-by-turn navigation and real-time GPS tracking.

The AI Route Engine generates daily optimized routes considering historical patterns, traffic, weather, seasonal volumes, and road closures. The Waste Coordinator reviews the proposed routes on the GIS dashboard, assigns crews, and dispatches vehicles. Crew Navigation App provides turn-by-turn guidance. Real-time GPS tracking shows route completion progress with exception alerts for missed stops or access issues.

Handle missed collection reports with automated schedule verification, process bin requests and exchanges, and manage contamination notifications with escalation tracking.

The Missed Collection Verifier cross-references reported addresses against the master schedule, holiday adjustments, and route completion data. Valid reports auto-generate re-collection work orders dispatched to the nearest available crew. Bin Request Portal handles new, replacement, additional, and size swap requests. The Contamination Case Manager records per-address contamination incidents with photo evidence and manages the education → warning → service suspension escalation workflow.

Container management

Manage serialized container inventory — deliveries, exchanges, repairs, and returns — with address-level assignment and billing integration for size-based pricing programs.

The Container Registry tracks every bin by serial number, type, size, assigned address, delivery date, and condition. Work orders for deliveries, exchanges, and repairs are generated and routed automatically. Warranty tracking with manufacturers recovers costs for defective containers. Cart Audit Tool supports field verification of deployed containers against billing records. New development coordination ensures bins are delivered before move-in.

Recycling programs

Monitor diversion rates by stream and area, manage recycling and organics programs, publish the waste wizard 'Where does this go?' tool, and run community gamification challenges.

The Diversion Calculator provides real-time diversion rate computation at municipal, area, route, and per-household levels. The Waste Wizard offers residents an A-to-Z searchable guide with AI chatbot for complex disposal questions. The Gamification Platform runs neighbourhood diversion challenges with leaderboards, recycling streaks, and reward program integration. Program effectiveness is measured through diversion rate changes in targeted areas.

Compliance & council

Generate RPRA datacall submissions, diversion reports for council, GHG impact summaries, and Blue Box transition status — all auto-populated from the single system of record.

The Regulatory Reporter auto-populates RPRA datacall submissions with tonnage, diversion rates, and program data. Council-ready diversion reports include per-stream tonnage, year-over-year trends, contamination rates, and GHG impact (tonnes CO₂e avoided). Blue Box transition status under O.Reg. 391/21 is tracked with PRO SLA compliance scoring. The Public Waste Dashboard displays current diversion rate, collection schedules, and waste reduction tips.
